Lowe's Memorial

Bob and Kathleen Hook, who are associated with the 1970 Summit High class, and who currently reside in the North Pole Alaska,  provided these pictures of a little known memorial to the Ruby and Charlie Lowe's Ranch located in the north-end of Silverthorne near their old homesite.

Here's an on-line description Ruby Ranch available at https://uploads.knightlab.com/storymapjs/2accbe5cc977a6404f7ee72c9eb18541/down-the-blue-the-hidden-ranching-history-of-the-lower-blue-river-valley/index.html --> Ruby Ranch.

Many of us were Ruby Lowe's students in the Old Dillon school system.  Memories include stick-horse rodeos and end-of-school-year hobo picnics that Ruby and Charlie hosted on their ranch for Ruby's students.

A trail marker entitled Reflections of Ruby and Charlie Lowe, is shown below.

Thanks to Bob and Kathleen for these pictures and the very descriptive narratives.

Ranch house, barn and lodge in foreground. There was a milk house on Willow Creek with a trap door to put milk cans through to keep them cold in the water. FYI Ruby made Charlie pancakes on a wood fired kitchen stove, a daily event. She would also start the stove to warm the house too.  The good old days

The old road in through the hay meadows.

Old Man Adam’s lodge. Adams was the original owner of the ranch.

Beaver slide for stacking hay…when we used to stack hay I have fed cattle from team of horses drawing a sleigh…on Christmas we would but the bells on them.
